So the Santa Clarita masters meet was a good lead-in to the Montreal World Masters Meet to be be held in August in Montreal, Canada. The goal is for the Magnums to enter several women and men's relays in Montreal and Santa Clarita and perhaps future long course master meets in Mission Viejo and Santa Barbara will lead to the Magnums getting in shape for Montrel.
One further comment on the Santa Clarita meet comes from Jim Hallett to wit:
On
the way to the meet, I heard on NPR that ABBA wrote “Dancing Queen” for
the Queen of Sweden because she was apparently a very hot dancer. They
actually performed the song for the first time at the King’s
coronation. So that was fresh in my mind when a very tired and
reluctant Susan finally agreed to succumb to cruel peer pressure and do
the 100 fly so that the rest of us could have the fun of doing our parts
of the medley relay. I was at the time in awe of Susan for gutting it
out and for looking good doing it. So as she finished her 100, I was on
the sidelines singing Dancing Queen to her. I have decided that she is
forever after to be known as “The Dancing Queen.” Apparently Julie
agrees!
